Dolls
These doll-like figures stand 15-25cm tall. Made from vintage fabrics, wire and muslin they are constructed in layers, each layer requiring time to dry before adding the clothes.I have made dancers, fairies, mermaids for a National Trust exhibition, bride and grooms for cakes or an anniversary gift, knitting girls and even a witch.
All have arms which can stretch out to hold rings on a dressing table or for showing earrings in a gallery display cabinet.
They are as enchanting as the names they are given. Although they are useful they are also little works of art in their own right.
Inspiration
Several years ago I made a doll of my husband with our little dog as a gift and later added myself and as our family grew I made babies and children to fit in their arms. They photograph well and I have had greetings cards and postcards printed.
Doll prices start at £34
On the gallery page you can see more as well as pictures of the last doll workshop at Make Art in Exeter.
